Passapatanzy is a census-designated place (CDP) in King George County, Virginia, United States.[1] The population as of the 2010 Census was 1,283.[2]
It was home to Japazaws, chief of the Patawomeck tribe. He conspired with Englishman Samuel Argall to capture Pocahontas on April 13, 1613. His older brother Kocoum, one of Chief Powhatan's warriors, was married to her according to William Strachey. They lived at the village in Stafford County on the Potomac River near present-day Washington, D.C..
